Bryson VS Brooks

Since 2019, one of the greatest feuds in golf has been unfolding. These past few years have publicly displayed the growing dispute between PGA Tour Pros Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.

One of the most anticipated matches in golf history took place on November 26, 2021 at the Wynn course in Las Vegas.

Bryson and Brooks faced off on an epic, public showdown.

Even if you are not familiar with the PGA Tour, this interesting feud may interest you.

It all began in 2019 when Brooks Koepka openly made a comment about Bryson's long set up routine, which caused traffic during the tournament. Brooks stated, "It really drives me nuts especially when it’s a long hitter because you know you’ve got two other guys or at least one guy that’s hitting before you, so you can do all your calculations, you should have your numbers", in reference to Bryson. (For those not familiar with golf, the average round of golf on the pro tour takes about 4 hours). This comment about Bryson's extended shot routine began the 3 year feud we see today.

The next documented interaction occurred later that year, when Koepka personally addressed DeChambeau's extended shot routine. This interaction was an overall positive and constructive conversation, which did not reveal any bad blood between the two players.

Although the pair left things in a seemingly friendly place in 2020, when Brooks appeared in an issue for ESPN Body Issue, Bryson commented on his body and how Brooks obviously does not have abs, like he did.

Bryson responded to this by stating he may not have abs, but he does have more majors!

Since 2020, the feud went quiet until this past May when a video was leaked, featuring an interview with Brooks Koepka who appears obviously annoyed and distracted as Bryson and his caddie walk behind him.

After the interview was leaked, fans started to take matters into their own hands, escalating rumors about the feud.

Fans attending events began to call Bryson "Brooksy", while he played, taunting and distracting him. This fan interaction began to escalate, resulting in the removal in 3 fans at the Memorial Tournament for taunting Bryson.

Although Brooks was not present for the Memorial Tournament, he went on social media and capitalized on the incident by offering free Michelob Ultra to the fans whose experience was "cut short" at the Memorial Tournament.

Bryson responded to this by saying he didn't mind Brooks talking about him because it was great for his PIP fund (Player Impact Fund) which gives the top ten players of the year $40 million based on social media impact.

Golf has been known for their legacy as the "gentleman's sport" which made many people question how this feud was effecting the integrity of the game of golf. Bryson and Brooks both defended themselves by saying if anything this feud was promoting golf by featuring golf on major news channels and social media.

The feud continued with social media jabs over the course of the past year, leading up to the long awaited match between Bryson and Brooks.

The Match was watched by 1.2 million viewers, witnessing Brooks Koepka beat out Bryson in an landslide match play of 9 holes.

While there is an official winner in the battle between Brooks and Bryson, it doesn't look like golf's favorite feud isn't ending anytime soon.
