Home of the Texas Longhorns and Keepin' it Weird, Austin, Texas is famous for numerous reasons. From music festivals to selling out every seat in the DKR Texas Memorial Stadium, Austin is a hotspot for tourists and an excellent source of the strangest and intriguing news stories in Texas.

The biggest news story delivered from Texas recently has revolved around the passing of new abortion laws, restricting and punishing women who abort. Since the news has trended nationwide, protests have taken place, fighting for pro-choice.

A Texas doctor decided to perform an abortion in opposition of these new laws and has a civil lawsuit filed against him. Dr. Alan Braid challenged this new law and performed the abortion after the six weeks mark, newly added through Texas' Senate 8 Bill. The "brave" doctor has since published his own statement about "Why I Violated Texas's Extreme Abortion Ban", explaining his stance on the passing of the law and it's impact on healthcare and safety of pregnant women, stating he did this out of "a duty of care".

The doctor "purposefully" violated the Texas abortion ban, to represent his opposition to the new laws and hopes his choice will demonstrate that the new abortion laws will be tested and pushed by the people, and with his position in a law suit, he will be able to defend his action saying the law is unconstitutional.

Since his bold choice to illegally perform the abortion, people across the country have voiced their support for Dr. Braid. Dr. Braid is expected to face about $10,000 in legal charges, so in support of the doctor, there has been a GoFundMe dedicated to him, with a goal of $100,000. The GoFundMe has been posted for two days, and has raised almost $600.

Support for the OBGYN has been showcased across the country, and Americans are eager to see the outcome of the lawsuit, in hopes that the suit against Braid will shut the Texas Abortion Law down.
